Semantic search, rich snippets, personalized and local search results and social media indicators are definitely what we can expect to see in the future of the search results, with semantic search results and social media playing the biggest part of the game. From my perspective it doesn’t look like SEO is dead but it definitely [...]

I have very strong reasons to believe Google will be. From the news we heard this and last week, it looks like conventional SEO may be headed out the door and the semantic web is about to be launched. For over 4 to 5 years, Google and other popular search engines have been talking about [...]

Well to a lot of ethical SEOs, the announcement by Matt Cutts that Google will be implementing an over-optimization penalty to websites that are trying to rig the system, is indeed good news. Google’s head of the webspam team, Matt Cutts, made this announcement in a panel session at SXSW named Dear Google & Bing: Help [...]

Most SEOs have heard of the semantic web but a lot aren’t too sure what it is or how it affects searches, search results and the bottom line. Well read on because according to The Wall Street Journal over the next few months Google will be displaying answers to searches that are questions like “height [...]

I know discussing the subject of eye-tracking user movements in relation to Internet marketing or SEO is like beating a dead horse but I feel the subject has to be brought up again. I can’t say that everywhere I look there are marketing companies claiming to be Internet marketing experts who are taking their clients [...]

I can’t give you everything, but I can give you some physical therapy marketing secrets – especially if you ask me. For years I’ve been helping different businesses throughout Canada and the U.S.A. get their websites ranked in the search engines, and their content found on the vast array of social media sites like Twitter [...]

We all know the benefit of Twitter by now, especially if it’s used right. When it comes to Internet marketing and social media working, if you have something decent to offer, there’s no shame in finding and following people in your area and letting them hear the news of your product or service – although [...]

Well, there’s been a few heavy updates in the SEO world this past week. Let’s get to the goods shall we? Google Can Read Ajax and JavaScript Well, I know this means little to the day-to-day business owner but if you talk to your Internet marketer or technical SEO you’ll realize this is a big [...]

Let us assume right off the top of this article that business directory submissions are actually an effective SEO strategy for building back-links. I mean, they really are but the task is a menial one that almost doesn’t need to be done even though the results of doing so can be quite surprising. Right Way [...]

A lot on the web related to SEO is pure speculation. The Internet Marketing industry has it’s gurus and there are a lot of people that claim to be able to do the work of an SEO and do so successfully. But that’s not the point today. Today we’re just going to speculate and ask [...]

Well it’s finally here! Google’s created a button similar to Facebook’s Like button call the +1 button. But how does it work? It’s simple. As most of us who use Gmail know, we’re a part of a larger social group of friends who have Google accounts as well. Well, if friends in your Social Circle [...]

It doesn’t always happen, but it does sometimes – right after we decide to check the status of our websites in Google’s Webmaster tools, we find crawl errors and more specifically the dreaded 404 Page Not Found errors, and we don’t like it. Search Engines Don’t Like 404 Errors Either If you don’t know why [...]

I just finished writing a post that will give you simple instructions for your WordPress blog on how to hide the media tab from the uploads dialog box on the post page for contributors – good – but we still want our WordPress contributors to be able to upload media such as images correct? Sometime we don’t want to give our WordPress blog contributors access to the media tab because that gives them the ability to manipuate other user’s images and so forth. Well here’s a little fix that helps you block contributors from using the media tab without having to install extra WordPress plugins. Copy the code below [...]

Citations may be mentions of a business’s name and address in text on webpages or in social media status updates. (I’ve theorized that citation analysis may go even further, including mentions of the address by itself as well as mentions of the business’s phone number and business name could also be counted as citations, too, [...]

A lot of people practicing SEO in Canada are making a huff about Google’s Personal Blocklist plugin – making claims that evil competitors can destroy business owner’s rankings in the search engines which is a completely uninformed claim. Straight to the point. Currently WAI-ARIA (ariahtml) is an addon to XHTML, not fully supported, in draft and waiting to become a recommendation. My current advice would be to leave it in your code as it assists handicapped users who are working with dynamic applications and will probably become a standard in less than a [...]

Over a year ago I introduced to the owners of a few companies that offer SEO services in Burlington and the Halton area the idea of using social media – not to help in your SEO efforts, but as a lucrative way of raising brand awareness and connection with customers – you know the usual. [...]

While working SEO services in Hamilton over the past year I discovered a lot of hype going around the Internet related to the dismay companies are experiencing with SEO firms that aren’t listening to Webmaster Guidelines. It now seems that with the roll-out of Caffeine combined with the lack of knowledge of local SEOs, Burlington, [...]
